For this practice map, stand at 출발 (start), face the station at the top and keep that viewpoint. The library is to your left, and the school is to your right. 왼쪽 means left, 오른쪽 means right, and 쭉 means straight along in these directions.
Go to the left, please.
Go to the right, please.
Go straight, please.
Examples in this unit are text-based. No pronunciation recording or automatic speaking score is used.
Useful basics on this page
I go to school by bus.
Where is the school?
가세요 is a common polite request form of 가다 when giving directions. This lesson teaches the complete route phrases, not every use of the honorific or request ending. 쪽 ends in ㄱ, so 왼쪽 and 오른쪽 take 으로. Left and right depend on the person’s viewpoint: they are not universal compass directions. The map is schematic and gives no distances or real-world navigation advice.
Try it yourself
You stand at 출발 and face the station at the top. Which destination is on your left?
In that same viewpoint, which route phrase leads toward the school?
Which phrase means “Go straight, please”?
Build “Go to the left, please.”
…
If you turn around and face the start, do left and right stay the same relative to your body?
RETRIEVE BEFORE YOU REVEAL
