어디예요? Ask where a place is

Ask for a location and understand 여기, 거기 and 저기.

어디예요? means “Where is it?” when asking for the location of a known place. 여기 is here, 거기 is there (often near the listener or a place just mentioned), and 저기 is over there.

학교가 어디예요?

Where is the school?

학교는 저기예요.

The school is over there.

화장실은 여기예요.

The restroom is here.

Examples in this unit are text-based. No pronunciation recording or automatic speaking score is used.

Notice the pattern

학교가 uses 가 after a vowel-ending noun; 화장실이 uses 이 after a consonant. 이/가 can mark what a location question asks about. 은/는 can set a known place as the topic. This is an introduction, not a rule that these particles are interchangeable in every context.

Try it yourself

Which question asks where the school is?

Which word means here?

The restroom is over there, away from both people. Complete 화장실은 __예요.

Build “Where is the school?”

…

RETRIEVE BEFORE YOU REVEAL

Say it in your own time.

Ask where the restroom is. Give an imagined answer: it is over there.

Resolve each question and make a recall self-check to save completion. Unit menus remain available for browsing.
