친구 means a friend; 같이 means together. In 친구하고 같이 공부해요, 하고 attaches to 친구 and indicates the companion: “I study together with a friend.” The action and location patterns remain familiar.

친구하고 같이 공부해요.

I study together with a friend.

유나하고 같이 도서관에 가요.

I go to the library with Yuna.

친구하고 같이 밥을 먹어요.

I eat a meal with a friend.

Examples in this unit are text-based. No pronunciation recording or automatic speaking score is used.

에 and 에서: going, being and doing →학교에 가요.

I go to school.

Notice the pattern

Write 친구하고 as one word, then a space before 같이. 하고 can also join nouns, as in 커피하고 물 (coffee and water). The full sentence tells you whether it connects a noun list or names a companion. In this lesson, 친구하고 같이 explicitly signals doing something together. This noun particle differs from the action-connecting ending -고 taught later.
