A topic, then a statement · LESSON 1 / 4
저는: introduce a topic with 은 and 는
Introduce yourself and another person using a topic phrase.
In a short introduction, 저는 means “as for me” or simply “I” in natural English. 저 is a polite way to refer to yourself; 는 marks the topic. Put it before a noun statement you already know.
I am a student.
Yuna is a student.
Minjun is a student.
New Unit 2 examples are text-based. No pronunciation recording or automatic speaking score is used.
Use 은 after a final consonant and 는 after a vowel: 민준은, 유나는, 저는. Write the particle together with the word before it. A topic tells us what the statement is about; it can also set up a contrast. Do not treat 은/는 as a universal translation of the English subject. This lesson uses simple introductions.
