Everyday Korean · one useful step · LESSON 4 / 4
Ask, listen and respond
Use requests and permission questions without confusing their roles.
Previous and Next let you browse. Save & next records completed practice.
In this fictional practice space, a visitor asks a staff member about sitting and taking a photo. The replies belong only to this invented scene; they are not real venue rules.
May I sit here? Yes, you may.
May I take a photo? No, you may not.
Please say it again.
A quick reminder before you practise
Ask for repetition or slower speech.
Ask permission for an action you want to do.
Listen to the reply rather than treating every question as a yes. If you miss the response, use 다시 말해 주세요 from Unit 1. A request asks someone for help; a permission question asks whether an action is allowed in the situation.
Try it yourself
According to the first exchange, may the visitor sit?
According to the second exchange, is photo permission given?
You missed the staff member’s reply. What can you say?
Ask someone for a photo-taking action, not permission.
…
RETRIEVE BEFORE YOU REVEAL
Say it in your own time.
Ask about sitting, give a positive reply, then ask for repetition.
여기 앉아도 돼요? 네, 앉아도 돼요. 다시 말해 주세요.
Your speaking check is self-reported. Pronunciation is not recorded or graded.
